A vacuum cleaner is great for cleaning our carpets. It is the handiest for cleaning carpets compared to other surfaces in the house. However, the carpets are behind the weakening of their brushes over time. They suck on the hair from the carpet day after day and clean the carpet perfectly, so that their roller brushes are covered by the hair, which at one time interferes with their suction power and they cannot suck dirt normally.
If you are living with someone who has long hair or if you are a pet parent, then you are familiar with this problem. The other utensils in our house are constantly being covered by hair, but since the vacuums are sucking the hair themselves, their roller brushes are being affected the most. This can be a big cause of disruption to the suction power of your vacuum.
You can fix this by cleaning the brushes regularly. This can be scary for you if you don’t do it on time. Thankfully, it is easy to clean the hair from the vacuum roller brush. Today I am going to share some steps that will make the task easier for you.
Things You’ll Need
- Screw driver
- Scissor or Seam Ripper
- Dry cloth
- Wet cloth
How to Remove Hair from Vacuum Roller?
You may think it’s easy to do, I would say easy, but you must follow some instructions before you start a job that you haven’t done before. Before cleaning your vacuum roller, read the following steps in full and then start working. This will allow you to be aware of the precautions to be taken, and get the best results.
Step: 1 – Unplug the Vacuum
Before taking any action to clean the vacuum’s roller brush makes sure you have unplugged the vacuum. Just do not switch off, disconnect the plug from the outlet. Do this not only for your safety but also to protect your vacuum from major damage.
Be sure to do this before repairing or cleaning any electronic device. This will protect you from unexpected accidents, even if you get injured.
Step: 2 – Remove the Roller
This is the most important thing to do now after unplugging the vacuum. Separate the vacuum roller brush.
To open their roller brush you will probably need to invert the vacuum completely if it is an upright vacuum, if it is a canister they have the brush on the head of the stick and just hold the cleaning head upside down. Now you will find the roller bound which is screwed with the help of the material of that vacuum. Open each part with a screwdriver.
Another caveat is that most of the time when we unscrew these items, we open them and leave them there, as this can cause these small materials to lose and frustrate you. You may even be unable to reassemble the device. So I recommend keeping the screws in a container or place where you can easily access.
After unscrewing, gently pull out the roller. In many cases it can be a bit tight so if you have trouble opening it, be sure to look at the vacuum manual and do it accordingly.
Step: 3 – Clean the Roller
It’s time to clean up after the roller brush is over. First remove the loose dirt on the roller. You can use a cloth or paper towel to do this. Since your main culprit is the hair, you have to do this perfectly. Hair is usually a material that is tangled with all the rollers; it is somewhat challenging but not difficult to clean perfectly. From my experience I can say that a seam ripper may be the most suitable for this job. Yes! A pair of scissors is a great choice as the hair can be cut into smaller sections and the roller can be loosened from the hair. However, it is a completely sharp object that can cut through the bristles of the roller and ruin the roller as soon as you get a little blindfolded. So I recommend a seam ripper.
Insert one side of the spiral parts with the help of a seam ripper and cut. Remove all the hair in this way. It is important to take a precaution, take a magazine or cloth to the cleaning area so that the short cut hair does not spread later. It can be easily transferred to the trash can.
Step: 4 – Reset the Roller
You’ve probably come to the last step. If you have cleaned the roller satisfactorily, you are almost done. The last thing you need to do is re-place the roller brush. It’s easy; just try it the way it was opened.
However, wipe the place where the roller is placed with a damp cloth. Since there was a lot of dirt on the roller, it was normal to have dirt around it. Wipe well with a damp cloth so that it is free of dirt.
Replace the bottom faceplate. Find and re-screw the screws that were removed.
OK! It’s done.
